Can no longer access modem from behind router - VLAN question

I'm trying to think through this in my head. It worked before there was any VLAN tagging. Then I had to add VID 101 to 'Internet' traffic for the VDSL. This is what broke it. So apparently the modem can't 'understand' tagged traffic that is destined for it? Is there some sort of way to exclude 192.168.254.0/24 traffic from the tagging?

You're on the right track. But as I said, it gets complicated dealing w/ VLANs, tagging, bridges, etc., on the ASUS firmware since it wasn't intended to support it. Although you probably can given enough effort. Ppl do add such things, w/ some considerable effort. But I was trying to see if there was a simpler way, particularly one that dealt w/ the problem externally by having both the private and modem networks share a common *existing* VLAN (i.e., cheat a little).
