Can you enable SSH access in the GUI? If so try resetting the password using this method:

I was able to change using

answer. But after doing that I still couldn't change it in the web. I eventually took screenshots of the most critical areas and did a factory reset. That did solve the problem.

Does your password have more than 32 characters? Are they all alphanumeric, with no spaces, special characters, punctuation, or smiley faces?

Try entering your old password with 1 character less each time (until it works).
I have special characters in my password, which is 15 characters in length and it works without any problems.

Worked,

nvram set http_passwd=admin
nvram commit

Next time I want to change the password I will need to do it again like this

that's what I found.

So I ended up doing a factory reset. Put back all my settings. Now I can change it via the GUI. So far twice.

Until one of the special characters creates an issue. Then you start a new thread asking what's wrong and how to fix. ;)
