I have an Asus RT-AC68U running I believe 384.13_4 firmware.

It functions 100% with both wireless 2Ghz, 5Ghz and wired connections.
I can SSH to it, I can copy files to/from it using MobaXterm as my SSH client.
I can use the "Asus router" app on my iPhone and see all devices all stats etc.
I can open a command prompt from my PC and can do nslookup which goes to 192.168.1.1
I can run amtm along with diversion updates and both seem to be functioning.

What I can't do is get to the webpage at 192.168.1.1 or asus.router.com using IE 11, latest Edge or latest Chrome browsers.
I get can can't connect/refused to connect browser depending.

I have done the usual restart to no avail.

Any ideas?

Neither work(ed)
I came across another thread looking for a firmware update and bumbled across adding port :8443 to the end and I can get on via this.
Any idea why or how this changed or what I did?

Adding :8443 to the end of the URL was always required for HTTPS access (unless you changed the default).

Check the Administration > System page. Have you enabled HTTPS but disabled HTTP?

SSH into the router and do this to reset the webgui.
Code:
service restart_httpd

I've had it as https for ages but don't remember the :8443 part ever being an issue.

Maybe you had it saved as a shortcut, or your browser was auto-completing the URL for you, or you were using http instead of https, etc.

Whatever, if you don't include the :8443 part your browser will use the standard https port which is 443. Likewise, if you don't add a port number onto the end of an http URL the browser will assume it's port 80.

I have the same issue after setting HTTPS under Merlin admin/system. Unfortunately I've also disabled SSH. Appending :8443 isn't working with a fresh spawned browser. Hoping to avoid a factory reset as I have a lot of unsaved tweaks in the router.
