Well good news bad news kinda thing.
Sorry I have been busy...fielding emails for some rentals we have vacancies...contacting PIA about the certificate I installed on this computer...they say it is like a key that you have in your pocket but don't need...oh this computer can now send emails through the vpn...lol
That is the good news
I have to deal with my isp

That is part of the bad news..and
I have to find the time to figure this thread out:(

I obviously don't know when to give up...lol
I looked for notes on any hints as to how I had accessed the Asus router before and I didn't leave myself any clues. I am very limited in knowledge concerning scripts for jffs.
I installed WinSCP on a Windows 10 os computer and tried to login using your instructions here
https://www.snbforums.com/threads/h...outbound-connections.38086/page-3#post-314828

######This is what happened when I first tried...I can now connect with WinSCP#########

When I put the hostname "192.168.0.1" port 22 (which is the same port the router says it will receive SSH info on)
It adds http:// to the hostname and sometimes changes the file protocol to WebDav with no encryption
I just had a thought...I am trying to access the router from a subnet behind another router, could this be causing the login problem?
I connected via wirelessly to the router I am trying to login using WinSCP and it gave the same results.
Martineau if you are listening I am really trying here and I do apologize if I am slow and unable to get it...
"Host is not communicating for more than 15 seconds" keeps popping up and I have unchecked the optimize buffer instruction in the popup..
Now it is saying my shell is probably incompatible and "Bash" is recommendedo_O...5 or 10 pound hammer when applying "Bash"?
***Update*** I made it worse...smh...I tried changing a setting in the router under SSH Daemon...Allow SSH Port Forwarding (changed to yes)..now any login attempts are refused.
I changed it back and rebooted everything( all routers and my Win 10 laptop were rebooted remotely thru the web interface) and I am still being refused...I have no idea what to do next.
***Update*** Very nervous at the moment...I noticed that the router's core 2 was at 100% and I tried to reboot it again, remotely. It wasn't responding. I did a power off reboot of the master power switch for modem/router/router/managed switch and returned to computer. Cpu usage had returned to normal and I tried login through WinSCP...it flew right in....I am really concerned I am about to mess it up big time...lol...but I am in and open to input..

***Update***
Used WinSCP to create file firewall-start in jffs/scripts and saved the file. Rebooted and no joy on sending email.
(on the root of the router is two jffs one Asus_jffs and one jffs..I created the Firewall-start in the jffs folder)
Copy and pasted everything but the word "Code" which I will try adding now.
Tried execute in WinSCP and got the following error

"Command '"./firewall-start"'
failed with return code 126 and error message
-sh: ./firewall-start: Permission denied."

Then I changed the properties, checked the admin execute box, so the admin could execute and the error message is

Command '"./firewall-start"'
failed with return code 0 and error message
iptables: No chain/target/match by that name..

I have removed the word code and still no success...:(
