Changing admin password reset httpd cert to default?

I had installed a custom https cert for my router as documented elsewhere. This was working fine.

Today i changed my password on my router, after the refresh the cert that was being used was changed to the older default self-signed cert.

I checked /etc and the server, key and cert files changed their contents and date to 7/31/2015!

Is there someway to prevent this from happening?

bah, i think i self answered this 5 mins after posting - seems the solution is deleting the /etc/server.pem - with this removed everything was ok on another password change.

That cert file will be back after a reboot. Remember that next time you change your pwd.

Just so i am clear i get it - you are saying that while a reboot won't cause the issue it will cause the server.pem file to reappear that will cause the same issue next time i change the pwd?

That is correct. Most of the filesystem gets completely regenerated when booting, including the server.pem when using https to login into the router.
