Chromecast DNS server change, Asuswrt-Merlin necessary?

endershadow

New Around Here
I want to change my Chromecast's DNS server. I've been searching for how to do this on my RT-AC66U and it seems like this is the place to ask.

It sounds like I am unable to do this with normal Asus firmware and I will need to change to Asuswrt-merlin firmware...is this correct?

Thank you

Click on that "WAN" tab on your routers GUI

Connect to DNS server automatically? No

I've already done this for my other devices but the Chromecast has Google's hard-coded DNS servers...so you have to change it manually for the CC with iptable. (From what I've read)

using merlin's DNS Filter will prevent the device from using googledns without much in the way of configuration
