Today I switched my broadband provider from BT to Virgin Media. I am currently running firmware 378.56_2 on a RT-AC87U. I use NCP client to VPN into my work using Cisco IPSec. This is all working great on BT which is PPOE. For the Virgin SuperHub, I put the Hub into modem-only mode and changed the WAN option on the RT-AC87U to 'Automatic IP'. I can connect to the Internet just fine on Virgin via my existing router.
Now however, my VPN fails to establish a connection. It can make the initial connection to the VPN server, which prompts for login. After entering in the password and 2-factor auth code, the client just times out. To troubleshoot, I directly connected my workstation to the Virgin SuperHub in modem only mode and was able to establish a VPN connection. So the SuperHub in modem-mode handles the VPN traffic.
I suspect this is some kind of a routing problem on the RT-AC87U when in WAN-Automatic IP mode but am at a loss as to what to troubleshoot. I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks
