Hi guys how are you?

I have a Rt-AC5300 and the 5ghz signal is way poor, i know that if if reset the router for 10 seconds it`s clear the nvram, but i want to go far

I`m planning to make a restore here and i wanna help if the steps i want to make is the correct

1 - flash the new fw

2 - make the reset by pushing the back router button for 10 seconds

3 - make this command : mtd-erase2 nvram

4 - turn off the router and turn it on again

5- configure the router and start using again

Any help will be nice

Thanks

Probably, I've never looked. I just use the buttons when I need to reset a device.

Hi,
today I tried all of the methods for resetting my AC68U WHITE, but I still can't access QoS and Traffic history. I have this problem for more than a year now, over 10 FW upgrades.
I tried with the reset button, the WPS hold during power on method, and from the GUI with ticking the erase all check box, and checking the format jffs partition on next boot.
The router resets itself, the welcome wizard starts up, but I still can't access the features above.

However, I have another AC68U which I flashed with the same FW, did the reset, and the features above are working fine from the start...

What am I doing wrong with the WHITE router?
Please help...

This link may help get your router back to a good/known state.

If the steps are followed as written and the entire guide is repeated (if and as needed) and the router is still unstable*, then it is probably time for a new router.

* and ensuring that no saved backup config files are used/restored afterward.

Thank you for the link. I will try those steps today. I did not use any backup, only completed the steps in the welcome wizard, but the adaptive QoS menu and web history only gave me a blank white page right from scratch. I also have a feeling that something isn't fully reset...
I will get back with the result soon.
Cheers!

Well, I tried these steps, twice... I even uploaded the latest ASUS factory FW update, then repeated the reset steps once again, but the adaptive QoS menu still gave me a blank page on other browsers too. Now I flashed again with the latest Merlin, did a factory reset, but the QoS menu is still blank.

I replaced the router with a new one. But the apache tomcat server does not go through the new router, however I did the backup/restore with NSRU without errors...

Thank you for the tips anyway :)

???? Are you using NSRU to restore settings? That seems like your issue then.

I'm a little bit surprised to read that... I might have missed some info about nsru then... Why do you think so?
There is only one pc with tomcat on it, which is blocked somehow by the new router. If I put back the old faulty router, the server works fine. Weird.

- You now have a script on the USB that will restore the user settings named
nvram-restore-yyyymmddhhmm_MODEL-macid.sh

where yyyymmddhhmm is the timestamp of the saved setting
MODEL is the router model (e.g. RT-AC88U)
macid In Backup Mode, this is the last two bytes of the router MAC address (for example E1F2)
In Migration Mode, this will be MIGR

What router did you take the NVRAM Save/Restore Utility backup from?

In any case, if the router works as expected before restoring the NSRU backup and after a full reset to factory defaults, it's your saved settings that are incompatible then.

Saved settings from AC68U_WHITE. Restored to a new AC68U. Both the same hardware versions: E1. Only the colour seems to be different :)

However, the white router has a problem which I couldn't solve (mentioned earlier, some menus not loading). Might this be the cause...

Yes, this is the cause.

Perform a full reset to factory defaults and then minimally and manually configure the router to secure it and connect to your ISP.

I have already tried to reset it in many ways, but the menu still didn't work. You guys here in the forum gave me many tips and tricks, thank you all. Conclusion was that I bought a new AC68U. Thought that migration will be easy with the same model.
But it is not..
