Apparently some people are just selective, tampering and absent minded, pointing readers. Does he said anything or mention anything, about a USB drive? unless I'm inhaling some pollutant in the air coming from your arsed...
Were you born this rude or did you have to practice!
I'm basically looking for a command that I can ssh into the router, and run to figure out which ethernet port I need to adjust. 4 ethernet ports are listed, as well as vlans and such. I need to figure out which out of the list shown by ip link connects to the computer that's backing up files to a drive connected to the router.
So your rambling about MTU's over the internet was a waste of time as he never mentioned the internet. To paraphrase you, "Does he said anything or mention anything, about the internet"? No. So, yes you can blow it out your arse.

Have you consider option Jumbo Frame in router and see if it helps achieve your goal.

Thanks @Hawk for bringing us back on topic. That's an excellent suggestion.

@zerophase You can turn on Jumbo frames in the routers GUI (LAN > Switch Control), then test your backup. If it makes no difference then there's no point proceeding any further. I suspect that the limiting factor might be the write speed to your hard disk rather than the network. Only testing will tell.

Good luck and please let us know your results.

I'm just trying to figure out which ethernet ports connect to my pc. I already have the computer setup to use 9000 mtu size, but don't know which port on the routers end I need to adjust. I'm pretty sure it's one of the ethX ports.

MTU Path Discovery should take care of most of the problem, believe it or not - one doesn't want to fix MTU/MSS size unless things don't work...

Source/Dest need to support Jumbo packets, and most recent Router/AP's - they'll do it if they can...
