the issue is I live in a large house and I want to have just one router for all traffic because I do not have any Ethernet in the walls.
Instead of increasing Tx power I would suggest you to consider use of PowerLine adapters. I have to use them in 3-levels house w/o any Ethernet in the walls. Single router plus AP on the each level connected by PowerLine adapters. Also there are PowerLine adapters with Wi-Fi extenders. I use 4-5 adapters.

Also what benefits does your firmware have over dd-wrt?
Use of proprietary drivers. Main idea is to keep all advantages of a stock firmware such as proprietary drivers, Plex etc. Plus maximal optimization for concrete CPU and extending its functionality.
