I have my Synology router set up to email me changes. Today I got this.

The device b4c2338a-1faf-475a-bdaa-d5d9e2858e62 is now connected to your Wi-Fi network GuestLANd.

From SynologyRouter

That is the strangest MAC address I have ever seen and when checked the MAC listing on the Router, no such device was listed.

Any feedback/advice would be more than welcome.

It's a Windows Device ID. See Settings > System > About.
Thanks for taking the time to answer, Colin!

I live in a tiny townhouse complex and happen to know that all of us are Mac computer users. Unless...does a Kindle reader count as a Windows Device?
Moreover, once I go to my router settings to see which devices are connected, the MAC address I mentioned does not appear .
This is all very confusing to say the least.

Thank you, Colin.
The alert from the Synology router said that UUID was connected to my wi-fi network but when I go to the router's Network Center > Status > Device List > Wi-Fi, I see eight devices connected, all of which I recognize.
Any idea of how you could find that device with the UUID in the router settings???

Thank you for all your replies, Colin. I learned a lot from this exchange.

I don't know anything about Synology routers. But if you have mostly Apple devices Google says this:

Apple says this about it:
the UI displays the device ID as Hardware UUID (in macOS 10.15 and earlier) or Provisioning UDID (in macOS 11.0 and later).

Please note that such a Hardware UUID / UDID is not in the standard UUID format from the first post in this topic.
