DD-WRT or SMC?

New here and love the sight. Found you all looking researching NAS devices and I got into the networking/wireless because there was more great content.

I was surprised to find little discussion on DD-WRT also. I have home SMC wireless product - and have had very good experience with them. Is anyone else talking SMC?

I've done some coverage of DD-WRT, but it's not a big focus, no.

Stopped reviewing SMC years ago when they stopped focusing on the consumer market. They still have some consumer products, but their main focus is small-biz and service providers.

I remember old barricade product were solid. But recent product aren't really as solid or competitive.

Yup. Back in the day, the Barricade was pretty much the standard for a nice, dependable router.

But then SMC screwed up the transition to the second generation and, even worse, had their parent company agree to be the OEM for Microsoft's short-lived networking line.

Their consumer business never recovered from that.
