While trying to locate a more up-to-date demoui than the 386-based https://demoui.asus.com/, I ran into a FAQ that lists demo UIs for their ExpertWifi devices:
Not possible, the UI is only available for ExpertWifi devices. It requires web pages + backend components that are not available for any of the non ExpertWifi models.Awesome looks, years back this is what Asus promised for the ax86u pro aswell... Its not "yet" delivered. Will you support the expert wifi gui for any model?

Yeah on the ASUSWRT5.0 page they bury the following far down the page: "Dashboard is now available on ExpertWiFi only, more models will come later." But like already indicated apparently there is some backend requirements that may prevent it from being migrated to non ExpertWiFi models.Awesome looks, years back this is what Asus promised for the ax86u pro aswell... Correct and i had a big enlightenment after a conversation with a fellow forum member. And i feel all is beta test. And luck. They supported my gt2900 only for 4 years. My ac68 was supported for i believe 12 years. Gt is dieing... 68is still going strong. I do think they should keep promises because i do like the models. And the easy way merlin ads the sauce and flavor for it to taste nice. Without it its nothing for me... And the tp-link is a lot cheaper and we get 4 years support and buy a new one.Yeah on the ASUSWRT5.0 page they bury the following far down the page: "Dashboard is now available on ExpertWiFi only, more models will come later." It really seems Asus has (likely for a long time) a severe disconnect between what marketing is promising and what the programmers are capable of delivering in the firmware. It really seems like they promise things that don't get delivered or when they do, only to a few router models and then a year or more later it trickles out to a few more routers. Kind of like how long it took for the 3006.102_x firmware to finally get to the RT-AX86U Pro (over a year). And then when it gets 3006 it feels half baked with lots of problems (basically just one big user beta test feel).
To be clear, these requirements are what are preventing me from doing it. Nothing from a technical point of view is preventing Asus from doing it.But like already indicated apparently there is some backend requirements that may prevent it from being migrated to non ExpertWiFi models.
