I created a manual entry for my DHCP server, and when I saved it, the entry never showed, and the page doesn't seem to fully load anymore. Is there a way I can edit the list from the shell?

Did you try adding an assignment, then hit the add button again (so it shows up as a unique line, under the blank one), then hit apply?

Another method that might be better to use is posted here

I wouldn't trust that. I set my dhcp to >100 and I do it all manually underneath. I don't tell the router anything.

The admin GUI for this works fine for me, but I only have a couple of statically assigned addresses, quick and easy. One of them is just so that the device will have a name in the client list, and the other actually makes my Android cell phone wake up less. But they're easy to quickly add when I upgrade firmware. And go along in the saved settings file for the same firmware version, if needed.

Issues usually occur because you entered illegal characters in the Name field. While I implemented protection for most browsers, it seems that some mobile browsers don't probably execute the Javascript code intended to prevent using those invalid characters, which leads to a broken webui.
