I've got a Blink camera in a bird feeder. The camera connects wirelessly to what Blink calls the "sync module" which is connected to my AX86U router. There is a flash drive in the sync module that records a 5 second clip whenever motion is detected. I have a 2.4Ghz guest network set up to which are connected most of my "connect and forget" devices, e.g., Tivo, Kindle, AVR, IP camera, etc., and a few others. What I discovered is that the sync module will record clips when connected to the regular 2.4 network but not when connected to the 2.4 guest network. (The sync module only connects to a 2.4 Ghz network.)

As far as I know, both networks are setup the same. I did not change any of the defaults except for those recommended for security reasons. All other devices connected to the guest network work as expected though none of them access a storage device. I should note that the Blink camera works when connected to either network but the sync module will only record the video clips when connected to the regular 2.4 network. It's not a big deal but I'm curious is there's some difference between the two networks that is preventing clips being saved when connected to the guest network.

Do/can you view the cam's video live somehow when using the guest WLAN?

If your guest WLAN is on Guest1, have you tried using Guest2 WLAN, instead?

I believe the guest networks isolate the devices. There May be a way to disable isolation. The other option is to use the normal 2.4 GHZ.

That's what I'm doing. I was just curious about what differences may have caused the guest network to not record clips. I've spent way too much time on this already.

FWIW, Blink customer service was great. They even sent me a replacement sync module and a prepaid mailer to send one back. As it turned out, changing networks solved the problem and for reasons unknown I could never get the replacement sync module (which was a refurbished device) to connect to either network.
