Can I install DIG (“Domain Information Groper”) on my router? (RT-ac86u)

Are there reasons not to?

(Either because it won’t be well suited to its purpose by running on the router…? Or because it will screw something up?)

thank you.

Why not, you can install bind-dig via entware:

Insert an empty USB drive, then SSH into the router to install it:

Code:
amtm

Choose to install entware

Code:
opkg update
opkg install bind-dig

Done.

It's been installed on my router for a few years and hasn't caused a problem. The firmware doesn't contain dig so there's nothing it can conflict with (unlike alternate versions grep, date, wget, etc).
