DNS Filtering client list is empty

As the title states, my list is empty. On the parental controls, if I click it on the client list is populated right away. What gives on the DNS filtering tab?

EDIT: The list just decided to populate. Now I have a follow-up question. Do I need to set static IPs for those I want to filter? Or will the filtering follow the MAC address?

Filter is based on MAC address.

I tried adding a client and rules and then failed. I selected a client, selected a type of filtering, then hit apply. After the screen refreshed it showed the table as empty and the client dropdown list went back to being empty. I have to refresh the page to get a drop down list. When I repeat the process, it has the same outcome.

Sounds like a timing issue with the new client list code since it doesn't happen on every page load.

Okay. As far as the disappearing ones I add after I hit apply...

Turns out I am a moron and wasn't clicking add prior to hitting apply. Thanks for the help!

The empty dropdown should be fixed for the next release. On some pages Asus immediately builds the dropdown list, and on some other pages Asus waits one second before building it, to ensure the router is done polling the list of available client. I implemented the same delay to the DNSFilter page.

I have a couple of other issues. Do you want me to start a separate thread?

1. When I apply any changes on the ipv6 tab or some changes on the DHCP Server tab, the router freezes and I have to do a power cycle to bring it back up. Also, I have to power cycle the modem to get internet connectivity back, not sure if it's the router's fault or not. It is a new behavior to my 68u.

2. I can't seem to get local name resolution to work on the router. If I ssh in or use the ping from network tools, I have to use IP addresses. However, if I ssh into one of my boxes, I can use names for pinging. This used to work with tomato, so I know it is a setting in Merlin that I am missing.

Already reported, and I have no way of testing this one, since my only IPv6 support is through a tunnel, which works fine. All I can suggest is disabling HW acceleration under LAN -> Switch Control to see if it helps.

Already fixed on Github.

My ipv6 support is through a tunnel as well (tunnelbroker). It just doesn't seem to matter what I change on that tab in general, the router freezes. Is there a log that might capture what this is doing?

As far as the internal resolving, does this mean it will be in the next release?

Not really, no. You might try having an open SSH session while it happens, so you can perhaps see what's in dmesg or running as a process.

I last tested HE's IPv6 tunnel a few weeks ago and didn't run into any issue myself.

Yes.
