Unable to download /update apps using router connection

I have to change the title and description of my issue after going through different testing.

Cable Modem connected to RT-AC66u via LAN to WAN

Please note that there are no port forwarding or any other custom setting within the router. I can connect to the internet but all Apple devices, Nexus and PS3 are unable to download or update installed apps. Previous I thought it was caused by dnscrypt-proxy settings, but after removing it am still faced with same issue.

Hi, I got the dnscrypt stand alone also, the apple store is working ok, the only difference is the -loglevel option is before the certificate not after. have not messed with the PS3, cant test in this moment, almost never use it.

shooter40sw, thanks for checking - I have removed the dnscrypt but some for reason am still not able to update apps on all the Apple devices and PS3, but it works if I use my Astrill VPN. I don't have any port forwarding or any other special settings on router. Am going to reset it to default to see if I can update pass without vpn

Did you also set the scripts involved with dnscrypt? What are you DNS settings in the webui? What are the contents of your custom config files?

I have removed the dnscrypt-proxy and associated files from jffs folder - I use opendns IP for DNS within the web UI.

If you are still having issues with these specific servers after disabling dnscrypt, try switching to Google, Level 3 or your ISP's DNS servers and see if that solves anything. That could isolate the problem to OpenDNS itself.

What DNS address is being propagated to clients? Is it your router, which is then forwarding the requests or are clients receiving OpenDNS IPs?

What are the results of a dig request to multiple DNS servers when you have dnscrypt installed and enabled.

After re-flashing router, all devices can now download and update apps as normal

cheers

Im getting this issue too , finally Im testing the PS3, I just flashed to Merlin 44 on a N66U, restored to defaults and activated the dnscrypt stand alone, the PS3 connects to the WiFI but it says that there is a DNS problem, is there a way to bypass the IP address for the PS3 from dnscrypt?
Thanks
