Does a RT-AC68U need cooling?

Hi,

I noticed my new RT-AC68U was running quite hot - between 80-90C. I attach a screenshot of what happened when I attached a cooling fan!

Over one year CPU overclocked to 1200 without extra cooling, no noticeable issues at all. Temperature around 70-8xºc
 
I agree. I added a couple of fans to my RT-AC68U as well as improving the contact between the heat sinks and whatever lies below, as mentioned in that $9 Router Cooling thread. I did it merely for something to do and I'm quite sure the router would have gone on to outlast me if I hadn't messed with it. As it is, it's still going strong. And if I get another, as I may well do, I might just improve the heat- sink-to-chip contact and leave it at that. On ther other hand, I might just leave it alone. If it ain't broke ......
