Merlin, since you turned your attention to QoS, which is very good news, maybe you could look into whether the router itself is part of QoS. Having Transmission running on the router, I see that its traffic has much bigger impact than any of the LAN workstations. Such as, uTorrent running on Windows workstation at speed 200/50 will have negligible effect on others' browsing, but Transmission on the router with 50/10 will have noticeable impact.
It should be also noted that in Traditional and Bandwidth limiter settings, it's possible to prioritize the clients, but not the router itself - which, given the possibility of running Transmission etc., is desirable.
