Heading over to my sisters house. Plan to bring a stash of rtac66u . Does the Roaming Assistant within the Asus firmware work. Nothing crazy. Just plan to put a AP in the 1st floor and another one on the 2nd.

If not, I have some aruba / ruckus on hand which I know will do handoff, etc. Just overkill for her if the Asus RA within the firmware does work.

A brief google read on it seems to suggest it doesn't -really work-

Works well on new firmware, I have two AX88u's and one AX3000 I use -70 for 2.4 and 5 ghz as the threshold.

So the router is dropping clients below the threshold reliably?

I've tried on one of my routers and no matter what I set the threshold to the router will not let the client go.

SSH to the router and make sure roamast is running...
ps |grep -i roam
1050 xxxx 13720 S roamast

then
Check your syslog for entries like this...
May 27 19:30:45 RTAC86U roamast: eth5: disconnect weak signal strength station []
May 27 19:30:45 RTAC86U roamast: eth5: remove client [] from monitor list
May 27 19:36:49 RTAC86U roamast: eth5: disconnect weak signal strength station []

Roaming assistant is like a bouncer - dumb and it happens fast.
Clients reconnect quickly, so you may not see it happening.

Never used SSH before. Can this be done without SSH?

If not, I will look up how to do SSH.
