Does the RT-AC56U still have issues with 2.4ghz?

Planning on getting the RT-AC56U. Read there were some issues with the 2.4ghz band before. Has it been resolved? I have some devices that aren't dual band, they could only connect at 2.4ghz N, and only one AC device. Or should I just get another N66U or are there any good somewhat cheaper alternatives? Preferably with an access point mode.

I own a RT-AC56U in which I use as an AP & no probs w/ the 2.4 Ghz band on my set.

I have the AC-56R for about 18 months now. Other than a minor hardware issue which was repaired in 3 days, the router has been rock solid running Asus firmware rather than Merlin.. 5 gHz speeds are excellent and never had a dropped connection
