I'm interested in a DS x12 product, single drive, w/USB3.
The DS212 seems to be the only DS product with USB3.
If I were to go eSATA instead of USB3, can the drive be plugged in and does auto-discover/connect? And vice-versa can you "remove/disconnect" by command?
I want a very high speed external drive for backups of the NAS which itself can be single drive since I must have a backup to a second file system readable on a generic PC in case the NAS controller fails.
