I have my DS216j on my network where my router is the default gateway and local DNS server.
In the DS216j I have a static IP set up pointing to my router as the gateway and DNS server.
It has, by default, checked the "Set as default Gateway option".
Should this be checked or not?
Is it referring to the gateway entered in the manual config or is it setting itself as default gateway?
All help appreciated

I have it set on my Synology servers. Also, if you use any OVPN connections on your Synology, check "use default gateway on remote network" if you want your client to use VPN instead of default...

Thanks yk101.

Probably shouldn't do that without understanding the security impact there...

There's a reason why the checkbox is not checked...

What is the impact? You don't want VPN clients to use gateway on a provider network, and that is precisely what that setting does.
