Dual band wireless access point with PoE

For the upper floors in my house I'm looking to improve wireless signal.
My main router is a Asus RT-N66U which is placed on the ground floor.
Wireless is flaky on the first floor, second floor hard to connect at all.

To create good wireless I want to add one extra access point.
It needs to have one PoE Gigabit port and run both WiFi bands simultaneously.

Searching for this I found the D-Link DAP-2660 to fit the bill.

Anyone using this product? Pros and cons?
Any other product I'm missing which could do the job?

Check out Netgear ProSafe WAC 720 (2*2) or WAC730 (3*3). Both are dual band AC based AP's that can be run via POE. May be more then you need but its an option particularly if you want an AC based infrastructure.

Thx for the tip, however price is too high.
Guess the ProSafe is more focused on companies.
Not home usage.

prosafe is netgear's low-midrange semi managed switches. For the APs there are many even ubiquti's own APs as well.

The switch only need to supply enough watts and the right protocol. See my POE checklist somewhere in this room.

If you're looking at smoke-detector style AC1200 APs like the DAP-2660, also checkout the EnGenius EAP1200H, or if external antennas float your boat, the ECB1200. Senao (EnGenius) has never let me down yet for standalone AP installs, and I've probably done 50+ so far.

I did look into that. And yes, I could see why this can become a problem.
My PoE switch can deliver 15W power per port.
Some AP's seem to want more looking at the specs.

The DAP-2660 is listed for 11Watts maximum.
Should be good to go, especially with the low cable lenght needed in my home.

While searching I also came across the Cisco WAP150.
Slightly lower priced compared to the DAP-2660.
Interesting, however I can't find any user reviews yet.

Edit: Also the Ubiquiti UAP-AC-Pro seems a good choice.
Exactly the same price tag as the DAP-2660. (159 euro)

Oh well, I went with the Ubiquiti Unifi AC Pro.
Price is right (148 euro) and it's a slightly newer product compared to the DAP-2660.

Newer is always better, right?
