Was curious on any users experience with the Dual-Wan setting with Load Balance? We have a single VSAT dish setup currently and would like to get a 2nd going and just wanted to make sure on its stability and usage before moving forward for this large purchase.

I would like to set it up as a 1:1 ratio but I have a concern about QoS and Load-Balance.

The package we have a 6/2mbps and will be buying another of the same package. Since we won't actually get those speeds at all times how will this affect QoS and Load-Balance?

Thanks in advance!

Is this for a business or home?
How critical is it that you get this working 99.999% of the time? or is 99% of the time enough?

"Home" use, I use "" because we a military Forward Surgical Team deployed in Afghanistan and are using this for personal communication and online coursework when there is downtime. Tempo is picking up and we will be receiving some more personnel soon and I want to be able to get them into the same network.

99% is good enough, my main concern is load-balance vs redundancy. Right now we only have 11 people and it is just enough bandwidth. My hope is to get this 2nd dish so we can have the same quality of service.

Personally, I think the Dual WAN support in Asuswrt might not be reliable enough yet for real production use. I would recommend looking at a Cisco RV042 if you need solid dual WAN support. I had one deployed at a customer's office for about two years (they have since moved their office into their new owner's network) in failover mode, and it always worked very well when their primary link went down.

I've used the RV042 before, I'll probably have one sent over if Load-Balancing doesn't work out. Load-Balancing is the only thing I'm concerned about at this point in time. Just wanted to see if there were others who have actively used the feature and I would be more than willing to beta test or provide feedback about the feature.
