I'm trying to setup a Multi WAN configuration on a RT-N66U as following:
- Primary WAN - WAN port - DHCP
- Secondary WAN - LAN port 1 - PPPoE
- Multi WAN mode - Fail Over

I use the firmware version RT-N66U_3.0.0.4_220.18b.

The issue is that I don't know how to configure LAN port 1 to use PPPoE.

I tried to configure the WAN ports the other way round and it didn't really worked. (WAN port on the PPPoE connection; the LAN port 1 on DHCP and set the Primary WAN as LAN port 1) In this config, the traffic still went over the WAN PPPoE port which I'm trying to avoid.

I have basic knowledge of OpenWRT and DD-Wrt so I can use the SSH connection if needed.

Any help would be really appreciated!

Thanks!

The Dual WAN webui doesn't work properly yet.

Does anyone know the local path to the Dual WAN script?
I'd like to look at it and see if I can update the script to log on as PPPoE on LAN port 1.

Thanks!

There's no script, it's all implemented at the binary level in the firmware.

So that would explain why I could not find it till now.

Do you know if there's a way to set the LAN1 WAN port to authenticate over PPPoE?
Is there a config file or something saved when enabling Dual WAN?

Normally, once you enable the Dual WAN and you go to the WAN page, you should be able to select which WAN interface to edit, at which point you can set the second one to PPPoE. However the webui hasn't been fully implemented by Asus yet, so it might not be working properly yet. This feature is labeled as experimental because it's still a work-in-progress.

I know Dual WAN got kicked out of the main builds but I have a question about it.

Scenario:
Primary -> WAN using PPPoE
Secondary -> LAN1 using Auto IP

The setup in the 'Dual WAN' section is fine.
Then I move to the 'WAN' section, to set the properties of an interface.
I can set the PPPoE or Auto IP on one interface, but when I choose the other WAN interface (in the section 'WAN index' -> WAN Type'), the interface is not updated with the settings from the other interface.

It looks to have a broken link in the dropdown box that is used to select the interfaces.

@RMerlin: Would you be able to have a look on the coding for the interface and see if there is a small bug there?
I can give you more details by mail (PM if needed).

Thanks!

The webui not properly switching between both interfaces is one of the known issues. I might eventually take a look at this, but this isn't a priority at the moment since this is something that is still under development at Asus.

I would greatly appreciate it.

If you like, I could also have a look over, but I'd need some pointer to where is the webui part in the sources.

On the Advanced_WAN_Content.asp, the field where you chose which WAN to edit calls a Javascript function that should take care of switching WAN unit and updating the displayed web page That must be where something is broken, it should probably reload the page with the proper WAN unit selected, similar to how the Wireless pages work when you switch between 2.4 and 5 GHz.

Hi RMerlin

Will deeply appreciated perhaps you can take a look when you have the time?

I have already feedback my share of testing observations of the 3.0.0.5.354 back to ASUS SG and ASUS TW HQ

Hope that i get to see a new version soon :D

So far I prefer not to devote too much time to the DualWAN feature, because a lot of my work might become redundant with Asus's own work. This particular issue (the webui) might not be so bad to fix however, so I'm not ruling it out at this point, unless more stuff related to DualWAN is also non-functional yet.

I might release experimental DualWAN builds for 354.27 if the wireless issues don't get resolved in the near future. I intend to sit on 354.27 for as long as it will take for the new driver to be fixed, since that was the main focus of that particular build. There's been a fair amount of code changes to DualWAN since 270, so it would be worth it.

For what I was able to see (270.27 - dw) the ASP page is not properly formatted the wan switch is still set to "DSL" or "USB" so then the code will not working, but this is the minor issue the major problem is that if you enable the load balance you get disconnected after 15 minuts , at list for me. :(
In any case thanks RMerlin ;)
