dynamic cgnat ip is changing correctly with ddns custom script but shown ip in web interface never changes

not sure this is by design but the ip in the web interface shown never seems to change even though the router is seeing the real wan ip change and calling the ddns custom script correctly.. this seems to be reflected in the nvam variables wan0_ip vs wan0_realip

any ideas. is this just a cgnat artifact?

thanks

The information shown in the web interface is correct. The IP address displayed as "WAN IP:" is that of the router's WAN interface (e.g. eth0), 100.124.83.80. It is not your ISP's public IP address, 129.222.45.204. So there's nothing to fix as it's working as intended.

ok thanks to show the actual public ip in the web interface would it be possible to update one of the variables with nvram_set ... or would that screw up the router.. because sometimes when i am not at that location there seems to be no good way to check if the dynamic dns has updated correctly or is lagging to the real public ip.. and it would be nice if i could see what that is somewhere in the web interface..

I'd guess that it's very likely to screw something up.

If this router is always behind CGNAT then why would you need to know that the ISP's public IP address has changed or have a DDNS address associated with it? That said, it would probably make sense if the public IP address associated with DDNS was displayed on the WAN - DDNS page.

because i have outgoing connections one being a connection to my home hub in a differnt location reporting my weather station which frequently is wrong if the dynamic ip hasnt updated.

and i also have an outgoing openvpn ptp tunnel so i can get to the router interface from the other location to check on things.

any update on this issue.. the wan0_Realip is wrong and not getting updated it has the old ip.. only way to fix it is reboot the router..

ie
admin@GT-AX11000_Pro:/jffs/scripts# nvram show | grep -i 129.222
size: 123630 bytes (72978 left)
wan0_realip_ip=129.222.46.39
admin@GT-AX11000_Pro:/jffs/scripts#

this is the laast public ip before it changed

the actual ip currently is

as shown below in my ptp vpn connection...

and in my connected nas that is updating the correcdt ip

C:\kahncampax11000pro\scripts>ping kahncamp.ddnsfree.com
