Fidium Fiber and IPV6

Has anyone been able to get IPVv6 up and running with Fidium fiber? I was told that it could not be implemented on their provided equipment and that I would need to get my own router if I wanted IPv6. So I bought one and set it up. I tried many different combinations in the settings but was never able to obtain an IPv6 address. I once again reached out to support asking if their IPv6 was native or static or dynamic or if I needed a prefix. They said that they could not help me with router settings and to contact the manufacturer. I replied that I am not looking for them to help me set up my router but looking for information about their IPv6 service and never heard from them again. Their tech support really sucks.

After doing a little internet sleuthing, it appears that they may not have even deployed IPv6 yet. At first they said it would be deployed in 2023 then later in 2024 and no real news since. I am currently using 6to4 tunneling but would like native IPv6. Does anyone know if it has been rolled out and have it running yet?

ETA: They also lied about the Adtran 854v6 not being able to handle IPv6.

Thanks, that is one reddit post that I had not seen while searching. It was also the newest post that confirms my suspicion that they haven't even deployed it and tech support either didn't know or lied.

Not surprised. I pay for four residential ISP lines and two don't have IPv6 support in 2025. Luckily all four provide public IPv4 WAN IP address and it doesn't really matter. All my networks run with IPv6 disabled including business networks (even with IPv6 available).

No much point doing it. It's still IPv4 and may add additional latency. If you have no Native IPv6 available just use whatever is available. No need of extra complications for no reason. If you have public IPv4 WAN IP available - nothing to worry about. Call this ISP and ask them what's the plan for your area. My two ISPs with no IPv6 are "considering network upgrades" in the future.

Well if you are a home automation enthusiast the newest device connection standard called Matter requires IPv6. At a minimum you have to have it DHCPv6 running on your router for it to work. It will operate with a link-local address however. There are also a handful of websites out there that are IPv6 only. I'm not worried about it and have it handled, it is just disappointing that modern fiber ISP's haven't even deployed it yet.

My home automation was planned and purposely built in a way I don't have to upload any personal Matter to remote servers on Internet. IPv6 only websites... their problem, IPv4 is here to stay.
