File re-appears on disk

I was copying a file (2.6 MB) from Android phone to disk drive attached to AC87U. Copying it failed and was aborted by Android file manager. The file on disk drive takes 1 MB (so it's partially copied), but I can't delete it from disk drive (router).

I deleted the file from phone, deleted it on router, and another second it appeared again (the same incomplete file, which is only 1 MB in size). Here's a more interesting part - my phone is turned off, but the file still re-appears on router another second after I delete it using Windows Explorer, so I'm sure it's *somewhere* in the router and keeps restoring itself.

WTF?

the file is stuck because it's still Open.... and because it's still open, it cannot be deleted.

might try lsof or just reboot the router...

Shouldn't an error message "file is in use" or similar be displayed then? As mentioned, I can actually delete the file (no errors), but it restores itself after a second.

Likely not...

OP, if file copying aborts for whatever reason the file manager should treat it graciously rather than leaving the partial copied file orphaned. Also I wonder if the HDD was using write cache.

As sfx2000 said, reboot the router and try again.

If that does not work. Connect it to a PC and try to delete it? Could run file check too I guess.
