Firmware stuck on 384.5_beta2

Whenever I check for update, it says new update found, but no matter how many times I full wipe or flash the latest update, it says it's on 384.5_beta2.

Ideas?

I've ran into this before, give this a try:
Physically disconnect any usb drive connected to the system. Restart the router, then wait around 5-10 mins. Verify your CPU is near zero & attempt to install the router. If it asks for your login, try installing the software one more time without a restart.

If it's doing the same thing as mine, your router is busy with the attached hard drives or something & it fails to install the firmware.

I even tried an old Firmware Version. It won't upgrade or downgrade at all

What version are you trying to install? Assuming you still have an RT-AC68U, 384.5_0 is the most recent version:

Is your router an Asus model or a converted T-Mobile model?

Yes, that's the version I am trying to upgrade to.
Also, it is a converted T-Mobile model. I've had no issues with the past 4-5 firmware upgrades. Just this one.

Converted TMO 1900 to AC68U have been reported to fail 384.5 install in recent weeks.
Searching the Merlin firmware 384.5 thread will show this:

There has to be another way. I've been using Merlin's builds for 6 months.

Maybe, but you won't find it here as the discussion about it is not allowed. I'm guessing you got a really great price on that 1900? Now you know a possible reason for that. It's unfortunate but it is what it is.

I just re-did the downgrade/upgrade. On the newest version again.

This whole situation is unfortunate.

All this does is weaken the security of the internet by making routers difficult, if not impossible, to keep up to date.

Well, theoretically since the router is firmwared to run on a T-Mobile system it would be T-Mobile that would be responsible for keeping the router updated as far as security issues go.
