ftp issue /dev/nvram: Too many open files after move to Merlin

Lukáš Macek

New Around Here
Hi techies,
After moving to Merlin from stock firmware all works just fine on my AC68U except for that when ftp from cmd or with FileZilla I receieve "/dev/nvram: Too many open files".
Q: What is the right way to either decrease the files open or better which conf file or script holds the limits configuration, what to change? I couldn't find the standard limits.conf file and didn't want to mess around, better asking.

FileZilla:
Status: Connecting to 192.168.1.1:21...
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Status: Insecure server, it does not support FTP over TLS.
Response: /dev/nvram: Too many open files
Response: 530 Please login with USER and PASS.
Command: USER admin
Response: /dev/nvram: Too many open files
Error: Could not connect to server

cmd line:
C:\Users\roboy>ftp 192.168.1.1
Connected to 192.168.1.1.
220 Welcome to ASUS RT-AC66U_B1 FTP service.

There shouldn't be any need to change the limits.

After installing Merlin did you do a factory default reset followed by a manual configuration? If not, do that now.

Hi Colin,
No, I haven't, I know it's a standard process, just wanted to avoid it as everything else seems to have been working ok on the current 384.12 as well as on the previous release. If not doing the factory reset is causing this, I'll have to do it. Thanks for your swift advice.
