Wanted a small battery backup for my Windows Home Server and a couple of accessories, like router, etc.

Bought the Tripp lite Internet350U, and installed the Add-In Grid Junction to the server. Grid Junction recognized the battery backup and all was fine.

Today power went out and the battery backup kicked right in seamlessly. Neither the router or the server noticed the switch over. Grid Junction is set to shut down the server after the battery backup reaches 30% power reserves. That took about 11 minutes and the server took an orderly shut down. But the router, and a broad band card antenna booster were still powered up 5 minutes later when the power finally came on.

I am surprised that a tiny 350VA battery backup can run the server and a few accessories for that long. Not bad for a $40 backup! And Grid Junction worked flawlessly.

For members who have a few NAS units, this backup should keep them running for 20 minutes or more!

Just thought I'd pass along the pleasant experience!

Regards,

Mark

Very cool! I was looking at a similar (it may have been the same) unit, but just was unsure of both the quality, and how how long the battery would last. Might have to get me one of these, seems quite impressive.

How long have you had it?

About 6 months. At first I was annoyed because the software that comes with it to allow an orderly shut down didn't work on Windows Homer Server. But then I found out not many do work with WHS. Then I found Grid Junction for WHS and it works just fine. Tripp lite comes with a cable that plugs into a USB port to send the signal to initiate shut down.

My favorite backup is APC, but they didn't have anything in this price range, and this small, so I took a chance on Tripp Lite.

Not a bad little unit.
