Hello,

Yesterday i have upgraded my internet to Gigabit Speed. I have SB 8200 modem for this setup. Wheni connect directly to Modem ( modem to laptop), i get around 951 Mbps Down and 40 Mbps up
(Speed test results url: http://www.speedtest.net/result/7473832331)

when i connect the Laptop to router ( SB8200 modem to GT-AC5300 router to laptop via Cat 6 cables), i get the speeds as 580 Mbps Down and 40 Mbps up
(Speed test results url: http://www.speedtest.net/result/7473837444)

i tried switching different cables from modem to router, but i still see the same slow speeds from router
I see that in router setup page, it shows as modem is connected to 1 Gbps speed.
I changed different ports too but its the same issue

can someone help me as i spent almost 400$ for purchasing this router

FWIW: Believe you should at least be able to reach @700Mbps down with that router as Tim measured for max throughput last year...I don't think you will be able to achieve the full 1Gbps download throughput using this router though...

I am able to reach 950+ down and 500+ up with GT-AC5300 with SPI and AiProtection activated.

You must have set something up that limits the speed. Like an older version of the QoS. Avoid using QoS with these speeds and stick to Adaptive QoS if needed.

Old firmware with a bug. This has been fixed. The speed is of course on par with RT-AC5300 now but is still retains the execellent CTF performance.

Hello,

OMG now i am getting full speeds upto 950 Mbps down and 40 Mbps Up speed with QoS Disabled.
i have enabled QoS for one PC and 1 phone. why did it impacted my entire network (other devices)?

PS: i did speedtest on the device where QoS is not enabled

If you enable QoS, it will prevent the router from utilizing hardware offloading and will slow things down, regardless of which device is subject to the bandwidth limit everything is subjected to a performance hit.

You can still use QoS with hardware acceleration. Just use Adaptive QoS which is also the recommended mode by Asus.

Thanks everyone for the replies. i am facing one more issue here

in my 2nd floor i have modem connected to GT -Ac5300 router.
through my internal walls, i have ethernet wiring and have a switch in my closet and form there ethernet wires go through the walls to all my bedrooms.
i have connected another router (RT-AC5300) as ethernet backhaul and configured Aimesh
i have connected my Surfacebook laptop to the router using ethernet wiring ( 1 Gbps network).
when i do the speedtest from the laptop on 3rd floor i am getting only 540 Mbsps Down
when i move files from my internal network from my 2nd floor laptop to 3rd floor laptop, i am getting file transfer speeds to 110 MBPS
but only internet is getting 50% less speed

why am i having this issue and how can i fix it ?

issue is fixed if the laptop is connected from main router. I have one more router configured in Aimesh ( ethernet backhual). when i connect my laptop from this router i am getting half of the speed
when i transfer files from computer connected to main router to the pc connected to aimesh router i get 1 Gbps speed ( i can transfer files internally for 110 MBPS).
but when i connect to internet its giving me 50% less speeds
