my advice for @fotingo is if there are connection issues or packet loss, maybe there are some other settings they must adjust (e.g. MTU). Most connections, the default MTU is best. However, on my ISP2 (fallback ISP) I had to actually adjust the MTU to reduce latency, packet loss, and drop connections; before I did such, my house hold would lose connection during game play, and streaming devices would stutter or have issues. Now everything is seamless.

I do notice however if I use Adaptive QoS, then I get the full speeds (900+ Mbps), the same when QoS disabled. But if I use Cake or Traditional, then the speeds are cut significantly (~350 Mbps) even though the CPU stays at 0% as if QoS has no impact on it.

Because Adaptive QoS keeps part of NAT acceleration enabled.

Why you insist on hurting yourself with QoS on a Gigabit symmetrical ISP line?

Just playing with the different settings to see how they behave. I also notice that enabling QoS and using Adaptive mode, actually gives me about 30-40+ Mpbs more. Without QoS enabled, I get around 907-912 Mbps. With Adaptive, I get around 950 Mpbs

Unrelated to your QoS settings. Continue playing. When you piss off the others using the router - stop. Find something else to play with.

I don't know why people like poking settings and creating unnecessary complications. And usually the lower the networking knowledge the more desire to mess around and see what happens, often before even reading what different settings do. Just getting faster to the next Reset in Asus case.

Have you seen the countless customization options in openwrt fw? This is the fun part of controlling your own network and in the worst case you reset back to default!

I don't get the fun part in disrupting the main network often and for no good reason. This change of QoS types requires reboot on Asus routers and is obviously cutting off all connected clients. Most of the time there are other users affected unless one lives alone.

Exactly ...To each their own!

Some like to play with their network and hardware as well.

No harm done :)
