GT-AXE16000 and bufferbloat

I currently have the GT-AXE11000 and the bufferbloat gets no better than a C rating. I was wondering
if people who own the GT-AXE-16000 have better score than me? I am thinking of upgrading to the 16000.

A new router likely will not help bufferbloat. Some will claim their router works better but it is a roll of the dice if it does. Trying various Adaptive QOS settings is your best bet.

You could also try Merlin firmware.

currently running Merlin 388.1 with 1 gb down I was under the impression that QOS is not neccessary?

Not necessary. Online bufferbloat testers stress the ISP line to show you eventual bufferbloat. In normal use you don't have bufferbloat.

Did you read the FAQ "How do I get rid of bufferbloat?"? It suggests to enable SQM in Merlin.

Asuswrt-Merlin has the following options:

- Adaptive QoS (same as Asuswrt)
- Traditional QoS (may have some fixes compared to Asuswrt)
- Bandwidth Limiter (same as Asuswrt)
- Cake QoS (exclusive to Asuswrt-Merlin)
- GeForce NOW QoS (same as Asuswrt)
- FlexQoS (custom script using Adaptive QoS)

I get an A rating every single time using the latest ASUS firmware (not Merlin) and default settings (QoS disabled), didn't change a thing except enabling Smart Connect.

it can be many things

1) our ISPs are different? I live in Dubai and have a fibre connection 1GBPS down/300 MBPS up
2) I ensured to turn off all programs that use internet before the test
3) the GT-AX6000 has a newer 2.0 GHz processor
4) Finally, your router's settings, have you changed anything from the default settings? are you testing via LAN or Wireless? My test was done with a laptop connected via LAN. AiProtection is off as well as that slows things down

I have the AXE-11000 and I got this. I do have fiber and live 20 miles from the nearest city (got to love federal internet grants). Upload was not even close to my cap as I have 500/100 advertised.
