No, you cannot use the GT-BE98 Pro firmware on the GT-BE98.
Currently, Gnuton fork of Asus-Merlin firmware supports the GT-BE98.

Currently Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.1 only supports GT-BE98_PRO and RT-BE96U

Edit to add: From RMerlin the developer of Asus-Merlin firmware:
Gnuton is developing the GT-BE98 version, since he lives in Europe where this model is being sold.

hello is it stable ?

any better ? then the latest ?

cheers

ITS really annoying not available in the us.. i want wifi 7 with dual 5ghz band to replace the gtaxe16000.. i only have two devices that even have wifi 7 (6ghz band support) so certainly dont need two of those bands aka the be98 pro..

hope official Merlin supports the standard GT-BE98, as I cannot seem to find the pro variant anywhere I don't think they will sell an AU version of this or to international markets due to regulatory standards concerning the 6 GHz frequency band.
I may either wait or go for GT-BE98 when the time comes, I just sure hope merlin doesn't just focus on the pro variants of these new models as some of us cannot get these due to legal restrictions.

hope official Merlin supports the standard GT-BE98,
Gnuton's fork IS official. He specifically supports models that I do not or cannot support.

This is an official Merlin fork which is supported by ASUS and RMerlin: Aim of this project is to make Merlin running on additional routers.

My builds are intended to support all features present in the original Merlin firmware. Occasionally, I also incorporate additional features for specific models. The images are built in the cloud to ensure transparency, and the open-source code is publicly accessible in this GitHub repository.
