Guest network popup bug, or useless observation?

When I change the settings of the guest networks, it seems that the "waiting" popup is from a very old firmware, different than what shows when changes are made anywhere else. I find that odd, but there may be a reason for it.

A useless observation, perhaps, but an observation nonetheless. :D

Firmware 374.43 N66U.

If the popup you're speaking of is the one I've seen before, it is probably because you've made a change to one of the guest networks via a machine that was connected by wireless. I figured it was due to radios restarting after a change was made to any of the guest networks.

Ha! Nice catch, it DOES only show up over wireless. Looks like a bug.

Not really sure I'd call it a bug.

The first time I saw it I thought "what the heck is going on here?" (I almost never enter the GUI via a wireless machine). Checking the syslog revealed the radios restarting after the change. Already knew that always happened but since I rarely make changes via wireless I'd never seen that popup before, so I had to figure out what had actually happened. Quick look at syslog reminded me of the radio restart.

Not really sure what could be done to 'fix' it though -- the change that was just made actually disconnects you from the LAN until the radio service restarts. While disconnected from the LAN there's really no way to show the regular progress percentage popup while it's applying the change.

I do not think stopping/restarting the radios under any other circumstances result in the "old-timey" firmware popup as it does when making changes to the guest networks.

This is why I term it a bug. There is no need to fix it at all, as it seems to have no effect on functionality. It is just funny it's there, even funnier I noticed it at all. :D

Yeah, I hear ya.

After a moment or two the popup disappears and you find the intended change
is appropriately applied. So it ends up working as expected (from a functional perspective).

Have to re-write part of the last paragraph from my prior post:

-- the change that was just made actually disconnects your wireless machine from the router until the radio service restarts. While disconnected from the router there's really no way for the router to show the regular progress percentage popup while it's applying the change.
