Hardware question - keep or recycle?

I'm getting ready to move. My old AC3100 doesn't seem to boot far enough to issue an IP address so I can SSH in / get a GUI. Are there any options for some kind of OS access prior to that stage, or is this thing bricked? (Like, I think some routers have a serial port inside the case / not normally accessible...)

You can try the Asus recovery tool: https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/wireless/4G-AC53U/Rescue_2102.zip
Might be best to use the latest Asus firmware but Merlin should work as well.

I swear I tried that before, but I did it again just now and it MAY have worked. All LEDs are off but I can access the GUI and mess around with it. Dunno. More to follow.

Once you get in do a factory reset, with the WPS reset if possible, do a minimum setup and flash the firmware again.
