Congrats on the order, mike. I know that @microchip has had nice uptime with xVortex's port of Merlin on his R7000. Perhaps start there?

It depends. In my case, XVortex firmware performed poorly comparing to latest stock. For example, with stock, on a desktop with AC adaptor I can get around 200 Mbps, while XVortex provided about 70-80 Mbps. Plus I've couldn't get iPhone 4S connected to the network. Strange thing, but I'm back on stock.
 
Thanks for that addition JP -- it's important to note that various firmware types definitely have their strong and weak points, and very rarely is a single build the best at everything, especially when unique wireless interference and/or endpoint compatibility issues rear their ugly heads. Glad you found a combo that worked for you mike.
