New Around Here
hi all, i am new here.
i live in the UK and have virgin media as an ISP. their provided V3 box was not up to the job, so i purchased a RT-AC86U and run the virgin V3 box as modem mode.

im sure its set up right it all works ok ish.
i have my PC plugged into it, all other users are wireless connected. when my step son is at home playing his Xbox i get lagged out trying to play BFV, i have the qos on so it seems to see the xbox and feed that first? so that was a waste of £150 then, you cant even choose BFV as a game option its not in the list.
i tried the manual set up but the internet went off? set it back it came back on (may have set the download limit to 300mbs? speed or amount of data? no clue?)
i did expect this box alot more config options, seems shirtty.
any help? loosing will to live.

Try turning QoS off. There are some "issues" with the way that Asus has implemented it. I have the same connection as you and unless someone on your network is saturating your internet feed you should both be able to play online without the need for QoS.

i had the same problem before, thats why i bought it, to prioritise my packets. theres a sky box and 2 tv's connected plus everyones phones. i assume the qos works, but its feeding the xbox not my pc. and the drop down box with the games on it dont have BFV i it ffs.

Actually, the QoS doesn't work (properly).

I would recommend you flash the RMerlin 384.11_0 firmware and use the FreshJR QOS script.

You may also want to follow the M&M Config guide and the amtm Step-by-Step guide to get your router to a stable and good/known state too.
