My AC-66R has been stuck with the 2.4ghz in legacy mode ever since ASUS released their beta firmware for the router, i decided to try merlin to see if it would help at all and it hasnt. I really dont want to send this router back to asus so is there anything i can do to get this off of "legacy" mode? Whenever i try to set the 2.4ghz band to auto it immediately switches back to legacy after the router restarts.

Make sure you are running WPA2-AES for best performance.

It could be a browser issue caching the page - have you tried a different browser?

It may be also an issue with the NVRAM parameters not being the same between versions. My first plan of attack would be to reset to factory settings - note this will trash the current config.

Either use the option in the GUI or power off, hold the WPS button for 5-10 secs while powering on. After that you should have a clean setup, and the first thing I would try is to set the mode to something different, then save/apply the config and reboot to see if the setting persists.
