Hi all, I am a TOTAL novice when it comes to NAS and the internet. I bought a Drobo FS as I was sold on the fact that it is child's play to setup. It was very easy to setup for data storage, but I am having serious issues with trying to find out a way to access my files remotely. I have tried Drobo Apps, but they are so complicated to install (and am now getting all kinds of errors), but they are even harder to configure. I have been to lots of support forums, but all the guys that are posting have a great deal of knowledge of Unix, and mine is a big fat ZERO! I don't think I am particularily needy, but I would like to be able to access mey media files remotely on my PC. I have no problems in accessing them on my home network (I have the Drobo plugged in to my wireless router), but I cannot seem to get a) any Drobo apps that say they provide access to your files remotely to work, and b) am not sure if there are any workaround solutions out there. I have been looking at maybe trying to add a ethernet switch to connect my wireless router and Drobo to my cable modem (but this seems really complicated and I am not sure if it will even work) and am also looking at buying a NAS to connect it to, but as NAS's seem only to be able to connet to USB drives and my Drobo only has an ethernet port only, this is also puzzling me!
Can anyone help me with some advice, or maybe a solution?
Please bear in mind that I am a absolute beginner on this, so would appreciate any answers in very simplified way!
