I am running an AI-Mesh system, 386.1_2 on the main router (RT-AC86) and two nodes (RT-AC68 and RT-AC66_B1). I KNOW the smartest way to upgrade is to remove the nodes, reset the router, add everything back in and start from scratch, but I am always reluctant to do so because I can never figure out exactly HOW to add the AC66_B1 back to my system. When I last did a clean upgrade I spent lot of cold-sweat trial and error until finally I got into the setup wizard, changed the default password and IP address and added it back in. Today I thought: why not? I'm successfully running the mesh, let's give it a try. And I'm just plain locked out. I can SEE the router in the list of available wifi networks, but when I try to log in, it says I need a password, and then the default password doesn't work. So I thought, hang on, I'm just going to ask somebody how to do this, and then copy and paste the instructions into my handy set up document, so I can upgrade and reset forevermore, without fear.
Here's the issue: the node is FAR from the main router. But it's connected via MOCA, so, ethernet. My other node (RT68), also ethernet, just automatically adds itself and gets seen. The RT66_B1 is never found by the main router (just spins and spins), and I can't access the Web GUI on the node to set it up, because it requires a password that I mysteriously don't have. Can somebody give me the step by step? I would be so grateful.
