Hi all,

I am evaluating Laxone home automation server for our detached property. We prefer connecting remotely through VPN than using a 3rd party cloud.

The other alternative is leveraging Thread and Matter (due mid this year) compliant services / products over wifi.

Our current set up is

- Virgin Business grade broadband
- A stand-alone firewall
- Cisco switch networking the entire house
- Unify Ceiling mounted APs (two)
- Hive thermostat
- ADT monitored burglar and fire alarms
- LEDs and dimmers all over the house.

Plan

Grab an automation server. In the first phase, we want to do the following

  • All light switches and a few sockets. We will leave most of the sockets alone.
  • A few curtains and blinds — living, kitchen, 2 bed rooms. Leave the rest for the future
  • Radiators
  • Integrate the existing Gardena irrigation
  • Multimedia : TV, Apple TV, a couple of radios.
  • We plan to get AVRs and speakers. We would prefer an integrating this
  • We still do not have an external CCTV and a video door bell. We may either add them later.
What do you guys think please? Are there any alternatives? Your comments and recommendations are very much appreciated.

Thx
