How stable is the R8000

I have the R7000 and I have a friend of mine that is going to give me a brand new R8000. I was wondering if I should just stick to the R7000, I have had no issues at ALL with the R7000, QOS works great no drops in signal, no issues. I came from owning the 7 Ac87r's 3 AC68p's all of them had issues no matter what FW I used.

Some advice would be appreciated, thanks guys.

The R8000 is extremely stable. Mine has been up for months with no issues. But agree with keep what works. Unless you have need for dual band 5ghz capacity the R7000 is fine. You will see no improvement with the R8000 other then the added bandwidth of the 5ghz radios. Range in fact may even be better with the R7000 as well.

Agree the R8000 runs very stable, have also had no issues with WiFi or QoS...

If the R7000 is performing well in your environment, then no need to upgrade unless you need the 2nd 5GHz radio...

I have been using an R8000 for months. I currently run the latest firmware, v1.0.2.46, and I am not experiencing any WI-FI or LAN issues. I love the QoS database - even with about ten devices connected, movies stream flawlessly. However, I do have one caveat. The USB support is finicky - not all USB hubs seem to work with the router - and the USB throughput is rather middle of the road.

The R8000 is very stable, as for USB I have been using a cheap USB 2.0 case with a Samsung PM800 SSD which works pretty well, I tried a few others not on the support list as well without issues.

Does the email ssl issues still persist. One of my friend is facing the issue. Its not fair to ask user to use non ssl based email service which is not secure and not best practice. As i even heard entire nighthawk is facing similar issue based on recent upgrades to firmware.

ulaganath, I use port 465 for gmail which requires SSL, the option is not in the router but I believe it automatically selects it depending on the mail service.

However do note, for gmail at least, you need to go to gmail account settings and enable the option to allow unsecured apps, otherwise you will get a notice in your email saying an unsecured app tried to connect. This has nothing to do with SSL not being enabled though, in case you are wondering.
