How To Backup Content jffs2 partition?

New here and would b very grateful if anyone could answer the following questions..

I use The Merlin Firmware on My Asus RT-AC66U Router - Ver 3.0.0.4.374.35_4

I want to upgrade to the latest build (3.0.0.4.374.38_2)

1) How do I backup the contents of the jffs2 partition? , so I don't have to enter all its info again.

2) How Do I know if the firmware I have on there At the moment (Ver 3.0.0.4.374.35_4) is from a SDK5 build? , ie Can I just flash the new firmware without having to do a factory reset and loose all my settings

You'll need to reset to defaults (use the web gui to do it - then pull power plug and wait about 5 minutes before you turn it on again).

As far as I know - there were no sdk5 versions for the AC66U.

To backup the contents; try this new tool I just found out about WinSCP.

Thanks very much for your quick reply , I thought the being as The Ac66U is quite new the re was not any SDK5 builds ,so good to know that does not apply.

Winscp looks interesting , Any tips on how to use this to connect to my router , tried using my routers address on my network and then my routers login and pass but just get "connection refused"

You need to enable SSH on the Administration page (left hand side menu) and the System tab.

Then, make sure you select the SCP file protocol in the WinSCP login screen. Enter the Device Name on the LAN, Lan IP page, the router password and you're in.
