New Around Here
Hi everyone,

I'm currently trying to improve my wifi connection as I have used several apps and applications to measure my current 5ghz channel which is on 44 and they are suggesting I should move to 153 or 161

I'm guessing some new networks are interfering with my current channel, because when I first started this up i went to 300mb/s easily but now i'm only getting 150 on all my devices
The problem is in my router or any app I tried i cannot go above channel 48 it just doesn't show any other numbers in the list above this range.

How can i manually get it above the 100 range channels?

I am using the Nighthawk X10 R9000, I got about 24 devices on the 5ghz network , and an additional 15 on the 2.4ghz (simply to divide the devices over 2 band frequencies and also because some devices i have do not support 5ghz)

The laptop I am using now is my MSI GT72VR 6RE Dominator Pro

No i am in Europe.... but i checked it and the channels should be supported

My neighbours are sitting at 44-48 which is also mine so i am guessing that is my conflict right there

But other than that, i see also further away signals sitting on 108 and 112

According to the SNB review that router doesn't do DFS
Not disagreeing with anything you said about region restrictions.

Just pointing out that DFS was not supported at time of review. But NETGEAR submitted a Class II permissive change for the R9000 for DFS in March 2017.

What is it that you checked?

According to the SNB review that router doesn't do DFS (but then SNB is in the US). If that's true you will only get channels 36 to 48 because 52 to 140 are DFS and 144+ are not allowed.

Netgear filed a Class 2 Change Request with the FCC on 6/23/2017 to add DFS bands. These documents mention that Netgear is using firmware version "V1.0.1.6_DFS_cus4_1027." I don't see any mention of adding DFS in any of the Release Notes for R9000 firmware updates though.

This thread on the Netgear forums says that DD-WRT enables DFS and someone received a beta firmware from Netgear but still had issues with DFS.

I see your point.... but man this is like the most expensive router available here, (not comparing corporate ones) how can it still be lacking features such as this?

My neighbours are using channels of 108 etc with a loaner device from their internet-provider. Wtf.

Thanks for the information Tim. Hopefully this is something they can fix with a firmware update.

As an aside, it's a shame that it's not possible (or practical) for SNB to review non-US wireless routers. SNB's testing is the most thorough by far of any site or publication. And whilst the feature sets might be the same, the regional differences in wireless power and channels make the rate vs. range tests largely moot. Consider a US router that could have up to 1W output vs. an EU router that can only have 100mW or 200mW (2.4GHz/5GHz).
