how to delete file from the hdd that is connected to router?

how to delete file from the hdd that is connected to router? my hdd is ext3 formatted, and connected to asus ac56u

in network mode, i can't delete any files at all, even if i connect the external hdd to the harddisk,which i am using windows7 with ext2 volume manager, i can't delete the files as well

what i did was i had to winscp into the router to delete the files

any easier ways? thanks

There's a chance your permissions might be wrong - set them to 777 before deleting it.

Simplest method IMHO is to SSH into the router and delete the file/folder through the shell.
 
I'm using firmware 374.39 on an AC 68U router.
Whenever I attempt to delete a file or folder through SSH or finder,
the router will reboot..How can I delete files, apart from plugging the drive into my computer?:confused:

What command are you using to delete files? What type of drive is hooked up? How is it formatted? Post your System Log, preferably right after a reboot from deleting a file.
