How to log router crashes

Anyone know how can I log the router rebooting itself or freezing?

The built in logs wipe every reboot, so aren't very helpful in this scenario

I want to find out why my RT-N16 is rebooting when downloading torrents.

More then likely running out of ram, create a swap partition or swap file. Many guides available on the forums if you do a quick search

You can't. Crash info gets sent to the internal serial port.

Alas, creating a swap file or partition doesn't help me. I get the reboots anyway. I have my problem logged in the transmission thread anyway, hopefully I can get it sorted there.
